2025 Federal Election

On March 23, 2025, Prime Minister Mark Carney presented Governor General Mary Simon with an instrument of advice recommending the dissolution of Parliament, which she approved. An election has now been called.

The election will be held on April 28, 2025, the 37th day of the election period. Canadians may expect at least five weeks of campaigning, with federal party leaders crisscrossing the country and promoting themselves, their candidates, and their platforms.
