Celebrate Canadian Library Month throughout October at RPL

Richmond, BC – It’s Canadian Library Month! All month long, libraries across Canada will be raising awareness of the important role that libraries play as the gateway to the community, connecting residents to valuable services, resources and literacy-focused programs and materials. This year’s theme for Canadian Library Month is “One Card, One Million Possibilities”.

RPL staff invite the community to visit the Brighouse branch and also tune in to our social media channels. Stop by often during October to learn about some of the library’s services, resources and collections, all here for you to explore, borrow and enjoy for free. Libraries are at the heart of their communities and Richmond Public Library is now fine free.

The library has recently introduced new technology designed to improve the customer experience, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Come and try out the new self check-in machine or bring in your old slides or photos, and learn how to convert them into digital files at our digitization station located in our Launchpad. If you have young readers at home, you’ll want to pop by to learn about BookFlix, a new resource that supports young readers in their journey to learning how to read.  Did you know that the library now offers Birdwatching ExplorePACKS? Stop by the Brighouse branch for a chance to see the kits up close. And, be sure to check out the Digital Fair on October 13 and 14 for a chance to play Bingo or spin the wheel and win some cool prizes.  There’s so much to explore at your library!

“Canadian Library Month is a great opportunity to learn how RPL promotes literacy and lifelong learning with locally focused services to support the unique needs of Richmond residents.” says Shaneena Rahman, Manager of Customer Experience at Richmond Public Library.

Be sure to follow RPL on Facebook to stay connected to all of the Canadian Library Month activities and enjoy fun videos and sneak peeks.
